Frequently Asked Questions
Did you change your name? What does the name "ellenda" mean?
Yes. In August of 2026, we received a cease and desist from a large corporation citing trademark infringement. Shortly thereafter, Eden Leaf Tea Co. became Ellenda Tea Co.
"Ellenda" is a made up word. Phonetically, it is the same as the street I moved to in North Carolina where I invested in and grew this business. It also comprised of the same letters as "Eden Leaf."
Are your teas organic?
Yes! All of our teas are made with organic and wild crafted ingredients. Wild-crafted herbs are sustainably gathered from their natural habitats, with care taken to leave enough of the plant behind to support its continued growth and abundance.
Are your teas loose leaf or bagged? How do I brew loose leaf tea?
Our blends are sold as loose-leaf herbal tea, giving the herbs room to fully infuse and making it easy to customize the strength of your cup. Loose leaf tea avoids all of the microplastics, PFAs, and pesticides commonly found in paper and synthetic tea bags.
Each tea has specific brewing instructions which are written on the back of each bag and listed on their individual product pages.
Loose leaf teas are brewed in an infuser. We offer a variety of stainless steel tea infusers that you can shop here.
Can I drink herbal tea iced?
Absolutely! There are a few different ways to make iced tea:
1. Brew your tea strong and serve over ice. Use 1.5–2x the recommended amount of herbs per serving of water, and pour immediately over ice.
2. Sun tea. In a clear glass carafe and using an infuser or reusable cotton tea bag, combine the recommended amount of tea and water. Place in the sun for 3–4 hours to brew. Place in the fridge to cool.
3. Cold brew. Using a french press, combine the recommended amount of tea and water together directly in the carafe. Place in the fridge for 6–12 hours or overnight. Press the plunger down and enjoy.
4. Brew as recommended and place in the fridge to chill.
Are your teas caffeinated?
All of our teas are herbal blends, and are therefore naturally caffeine-free.
Do you grow your own herbs? Where do you source your herbs from?
We grow a few specific herbs for specialty and limited edition blends.
We source our organic herbs from domestic suppliers, and selectively choose our herbs for premium quality. Occasionally, a supplier sources an ingredient from outside the United States, but we always try to source herbs from American growers whenever we can.
Do your teas contain any artificial flavors, natural flavors, preservatives or additives?
Nope! We only include organic and wild crafted roots, herbs, and flowers in our blends. The great taste of our teas comes solely from the herbs.
Why don't you offer any black tea or matcha?
One question we get asked all the time is, "Do you have any green tea?" And there's a good reason why the answer is no.
Broadly speaking, tea falls into two categories: traditional tea (made from the Camellia sinensis plant) and tisanes. All white, green, oolong, black, and puerh teas actually come from the same plant! What determines the kind of tea the leaves become is the growing location, harvesting time, and drying process.
Traditional teas have very specific brewing requirements and often contain caffeine. Some traditional teas do incorporate herbs or spices for flavor, but the base is always the Camellia sinesis leaf.
Tisanes are made from herbs, flowers, roots, or spices—that's us. Herbal teas are very forgiving when it comes to brewing temperature and time, and never contain caffeine. They often focus on health benefits, and have a wide range of flavor profiles.
We stick to herbal blends because our focus has always been crafting blends that benefit the body. To be honest, the world of traditional tea is quite simply too vast. By staying in our niche, we have more freedom to be creative and health-focused.
What are the shelf life of your teas?
Our herbs are packaged in foil-lined, resealable pouches. When stored properly in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture, dried herbal tea is best enjoyed within 1–2 years. While dried herbs don't necessarily spoil immediately after this period, their color, aroma, flavor, and overall quality can gradually decline.
How do I choose a tea for my specific health needs and concerns?

Do your teas treat or cure medical conditions?
Our teas are intended to support general wellness and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. They aren't a substitute for medical care or prescribed medications.
Are your teas safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Not all herbs are appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding. We recommend consulting your healthcare provider before consuming herbal products during pregnancy or while nursing, even when a blend is made from natural ingredients.
We do have specific blends for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
